Baillie

The challenge

Baillie is one of North America's largest lumber exporters, shipping thousands of export transactions every year.

None of it was automated. No digitized system for their forest product exports — paper and manual processes across the whole operation, with a team trying to collaborate across it.

The Solution

Trade Technologies introduced the TradeSharp™ platform, and rebuilt how Baillie handled trade documents.

Workflow automation and document digitization removed the inefficient paper and manual processes, and enabled collaboration across the Baillie team for thousands of export transactions a year.

TradeSharp™ gives them a cloud platform for automated document and data exchange with all parties; customized data management and structured documents; rule-based transaction templating that enforces compliance automatically; structured workflows across internal teams, suppliers, banks, buyers and third parties; secure electronic document exchange; user-defined reporting across all transaction data; and 24/7 visibility of status, exposures and performance.

The Impact

The platform has enabled Baillie to grow their export business significantly — efficiently and profitably.

That's the point of this one. It isn't a story about saving money on couriers. It's a story about a company whose old process couldn't have supported the growth they wanted, and a new one that can.

Trade Technologies' unique combination of cutting-edge technology and a deep understanding of export trade documents and processes enabled us to automate and streamline numerous manual and time consuming tasks. These new efficiencies will scale to enable significant growth in Baillie Lumber's export business over the next few years.
